The Dovecote

This dovecote at the north end of the High Street, near Daintrees Road, dates from the late 18th century but was altered in the 19th. It is square and built of red brick, with its pyramidal roof (originally slated). When it was inspected for listing in 1989 the structure was recorded as derelict, but the interior walls were all still lined to their full height with brick nesting boxes. It has now been converted into a private residence of which only a glimpse can be seen from the street.
