Plaque on house at 29 Warwick Row, Greyfriars Green, Coventry, indicating that Mary Ann Evans, the future George Eliot, boarded and was educated here, between around 1832 and 1835, when she returned home to Griff, near Nuneaton, to help care for her dying mother. The house was known as 'Nant Glyn' and the boarding school was run by the Misses Mary & Rebecca Franklin, daughters of the Rev. Francis Franklin, minister of Cow Lane Baptist Chapel (forerunner of Queens Road Baptist Church, now across the ring road from Warwick Row). https://www.qrbc.co.uk/who-we-are/what-is-our-story/ (see also Kathleen Adams, George Eliot: The Pitkin Guide).
