This stone is displayed in the Museum and Library on Carlton Street in Castleford. It was found in 1880 on Carlton Street during drainage works. Later it was on display in York Museum gardens tnen put into store where it was seen in 2012. By 2016 it was returned to Castleford. The town was on the major Roman route connecting Castleford to Lincoln and York. The legend is IMP CAES MAR ANNIO FLORIANO P F AVG. Florian was emperor from June 276AD to September 276AD when he was killed by his own soldiers.
