This art deco building is dated 1931. It retains details typical of the period such as the door and windows. Even the modern signage for a laundrette and a gaming establishment is in keeping with the age of the building. As is often the case in Stroud, the building is situated on a sloping site. I have since received the following message: "Interested to see your picture of the old Co-op building in Stroud on Geograph. For what it's worth the doors are actually very recent, as is the canopy. I was involved, as the designer, in the refurbishment of this shopfront, some 8 or 9 years ago. I managed to persuade the client/owner to spend far more than necessary and am very pleased with the result. Glad that you appreciated the signs being in keeping!"
