The William Amory Primary School, Blythe Bridge

The William Amory Primary School was opened in 2006 as an amalgamation of The Marsh Primary School and Draycott Manor Primary School. The Marsh name referred to the old hamlet of Blythe Marsh, now subsumed into Blythe Bridge, and was pretty much the last official recognition of its existence although it does still appear on maps. However, the new name was well chosen because it commemorates William Amory, a man from a prominent local family who founded a free school in the village in 1728.
