The Classical style made me think that this had been a public or commercial building. On investigation I found that it was symmetrical, extending to the left, as shown on an old photograph on the Historic Southowram website. It is on the first, 1893, edition of the 1:2500 map and was three dwellings, Nos. 1,3 & 5. At some time in the mid-20C No.1 and part of No.3 were demolished and the present No.1 built. In the 1960s No.3 was a post office.
