Debenhams department store is one of the major features of Bury’s Rock Triangle shopping centre. Unfortunately, the company suffered financial difficulties in the post-Brexit recession and was further hampered by the Coronavirus lockdown restrictions. After entering administration in 2020, Debenhams announced it would be liquidated. Boohoo bought the Debenhams brand and website in January 2021 but did not retain any stores. The Bury branch opened briefly to begin a closing down sale following a relaxation of some COVID-19 restrictions on 12 April 2021 but was closed completely on 4 May 2021 https://www.burytimes.co.uk/news/19250936.debenhams-bolton-closing-date-announced/ (Bury Times).
