The sign is surmounted by a half tyre and a half cog-wheel with a spanner, a whip, and a shepherd’s crook, symbolising the village's links with transport, engineering, and the farming community. Below the name there are two figures, they represent St Lawrence, dressed in blue, patron saint of the parish church, and John Aylmer, in red, who was born at Aylmer Hall in the village and in 1577 became Bishop of London. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6815195
