Rochdale canal, Chadderton Lock 61 (Scowcroft). The railway bridge known locally as the Iron Dongle, carries the railway from Rochdale to Manchester. Years ago this used to be a favourite spot for local children to swim and jump from the bridge. The canal was constructed in 1804.
