The middle of the pole seen in Image Every pole has this simple anti-climb device made of barbed wire as a disincentive to the foolish. The safety warning is for their benefit too. At just about the same place the three downfeed cables seen in Image are fed under a protective cap, to avoid them being crushed during a minor vehicular collision with the pole. The three white disks are a safety feature of a sort, too. They identify the pole with tag numbers from a map or plant list, which is useful if isolation needs to be done elsewhere for work to be done.
