Mapped as "Compton Foundry (Iron & Brass)" on the 1888 OS map, and with smithies marked on both side of the lane here. The house is also shown in Image, which also shows an interesting arched entrance through the wall, and in Image On the immediate left is Ridgeway Hill, which carries Marldon footpath 1 towards Moles Lane.
