The Pennine Way passes through the field below this farm. Established in 1965 the Pennine Way is the oldest and best-known of the English National Trails. http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/PennineWay/ http://www.thepennineway.co.uk/ . Much of the course of the Way between Garrigill and Alston follows the banks of the South Tyne, but here for about 2 km it climbs above the valley floor through some appallingly wet and muddy fields (at least they are in winter).
