This site has now been converted to accommodation but in 1990 was being stripped of its machinery. This is a Belliss & Morcom inverted vertical compound (enclosed) steam engine. The alternator it drove had already been scrapped. This was built in 1932 as works No. 8417. It was a V-type with automatic expansion gear and cylinders of 12" & 18" x 8". It was rated at 220-225 brake horsepower at 500 rpm on steam at 140 psi. The flywheel was 45" diameter. As far as is known it was scrapped by 1992/1993.
