Thomas Ward Franklyn was born on 23 March 1801 at Henbury https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henbury and educated at St John's College, Oxford https://www.sjc.ox.ac.uk/ He was a master at Bristol Grammar School https://www.bristolgrammarschool.co.uk/ from 1823 until 1826 During this time he was ordained a priest and began his ecclesiastical career at Newnham on Severn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newnham_on_Severn before coming to Greatham. He was Vicar of Christ Church, Tunbridge Wells https://www.cctw.org.uk/ from 1840 to 1857 He died at Sydenham on 17 May 1876
