This was the toilet block that used by Italian Prisoners of War. Having been captured in 1941, the men were put to use on the farms and fields of rural Somerset. As is often the case, a number of men became acquainted with local women and formed strong bonds that the end of hostilities did not break. They married and settled in the area; even today there are a few surnames of Mediterranean origin.
