The speed limit ends here at the northern edge of Histon. This is a Gateway Feature, the idea being to emphasise to drivers that they are entering an area where the needs of the adjacent community are as, or more, important than the convenience of through traffic. The gates are fully functional with hinges and latches - presumably these are easier to procure than 4-foot long fences. There is a separate cycle track here.
