Gayton sign is an open triple faceted frame surmounted by a crown and acanthus leaves, symbolising immortality and enduring life. The church of St Nicholas with crosses in the graveyard fills one frame, the great tower mill which dominates the centre of the village another, the third by and a horse and hay-cart with the driver on top steering, and the sun is shining down on all three scenes.
