The house on the left is called Honey Cottage but was at one time known as Stoney Cottage; it is dated 1721. In the 19th century a blind man, Drummer Bennet, lived here. He used to make money by leading people along the bridleway to Welford after dark; although he carried a lantern for his customers' use, he would extinguish it on his return because he had no need of it.
