The sign is a quartered shield with the English lion in the centre. In the top left is the present day village hall which is named after Amy Robsart. In 1549 Amy Robsart married Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, and was probably murdered by him. Her ghost haunted the village for many years. The right quarter depicts the church of St Mary. A tractor ploughs the field giving reference to the agricultural heritage of the village, and a natterjack toad inhabits the final quarter as well as inhabiting Syderstone Common. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6794196
