The sign is in the shape of a shield and depicts a tower mill as the prime subject. The mill used to stand on Moor Lane until it was demolished in the early 1900s. The flower, a rose, appears in the coat of arms of Sir Robert Knollys was born in the village in c1330, he was knighted in 1851 and among other good works he restored the churches of Sculthorpe and Harpley. The American Bald Eagle is symbolic of USAAF Sculthorpe airfield and the part it has played in word peace. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6793797
