Looking downstream to the bridge carrying West Shore. The amount of large sediment carried by this river during floods is remarkable, and reflects its steep profile and wide catchment over an area with thick deposits of till, or boulder clay. It is apparent that occasional excavator forays are required to prevent the river from choking-up on this debris.
