This is the large open circle where all sorts of manoeuvrability test could be laid out. The occasion was a study visit by the local branch of the Chartered Institute of Transport. The Laboratory, now the Transport Research Laboratory, is much reduced in size. Part of the open area is being developed for housing, and the buildings beyond the bus have all been demolished. The bus is a SELNEC (Greater Manchester) Metro-Scania bus (EX60) which was on loan to the Laboratory. It was one of a small number of buses of this type purchased in 1972/3 by SELNEC for evaluation, but no bulk order materialised. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761
