Opened in 1959, the name is linked to Rochester Airport. At the opening ceremony on April 14th its inn sign was unveiled by Colonel R. L. Preston, Secretary of the Royal Aero Club, as he sat in the cockpit of a Tiger Moth. The aircraft had previously been pushed down the road from the airfield.
