Charlotte House, a care home on Albert Road, caught fire in the early hours of the 16th December 2010. The home was in the process of being closed down and only a few residents were still living there. They all escaped safely. Image It remained boarded up for a number of years Image In 2015 it was put up for auction Image In September 2016 it was demolished Image Work is now going ahead to build a block of 16 one and two-bed self-contained apartments on the site. The homes will be managed by the Johnnie Johnson Housing Association.
