The origins of Chance Glass Ltd goes back almost two centuries, being founded in Smethwick in 1836, as Chance Brothers and Company. The company made the glass for the Crystal Palace which housed the 1851 Great Exhibition. It also made the glass for the clockfaces of the tower at Westminster which contains the bell, Big Ben. In the 20th century the company became part of Pilkington. This Malvern site was established in 1947 and became an independent company after a management buy-out in the 1990s.
