This stone is from the Worksop to Attercliffe turnpike first enacted 1764. It was rescued by the vehicle sales owner when the house next door, Craig Lea, had a small wall built. It was left lying face down on the verge so he stood it inside his property and attached it with a strap to the iron railings. The base of the stone may have been broken off at some time. Of the 4 remaining stones on this 16 mile route it is the only one which still has its plate. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6044030 for 2007 photo.
