This surfaced road, which leads to Wallsend Dene, follows the same line as it did when the first Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area was published in 1865 (surveyed 1858). At that time the stone wall to the left was the boundary wall of Wallsend Hall and Gardens, and the only building on Crow Bank was the brewery belonging to James Mordue junior.
