Originally the country home of Lord Truscott, Lord Mayor of London, it has since (reputedly) been a prep school, annex to the Queen Victoria Hospital "Guinea Pig" burns unit, hospital administration offices, a geriatric unit and is currently a nursing home. Evidence of its academic past is found in the incised initials in the soft brick of the porch.
