Chalk Marsh has nothing to do with chalk but (according to the Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association notice seen here) was named after Bob Chalk, "a deidicated Wildfowler and Countryman whose legacy to the KWCA for land purchase in Essex has provided this wonderful haven for wildfowling and wildlife".
