The sign, erected by the W.I. to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, is for some weird reason totally out of proportion. It is called ‘The Falconer’; dressed in traditional short tunic and tights with a long cloak and cap, he has a falcon on his hand by his right shoulder.  Earl Soham had been part of the lands of the Bigods, Earls of Norfolk and Suffolk based at Framlingham from the twelfth century. They had established a hunting lodge with falconry at Earl Soham.  Being in dark wood and ill proportioned he is never seen for what he actually is from the road and a close look is essential. I can only hope when it is replaced, it is sculpted out of a larger piece of wood so it can be recognised from a distance. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6633044
