Last time I was here the central building housed two beam engines. Many years ago we had a meeting in my bedroom to discuss the possibility of the Stationary Engine Research Group taking over the site as a preservation project. This came to nought and the two engines are now preserved in Leicestershire and Norfolk. However, three of the chief protagonists in that abortive plan are now directors of the Claymills Pumping Engines Trust.
