The Cowe Buildings comprising 2 Love Lane and 64 West Street, Berwick-on-Tweed

Grade II Listed, 2 Love Lane and 64 West St form a single building of the late 1750s, built for Thomas Watson, a Berwick merchant. In or before 1887 the buildings underwent extensive alterations by John Wilson who ran an extensive ironmongery business. 2 Love Lane and 64 West Street, were separately occupied in the early 20th century. William Cowe famous for sweets known as Berwick Cockles, extended its operations to 2 Love Lane and 60 West Street from 64-66 Bridge Street soon after moving in to 2 Love Lane in 1938. The business ceased in March 2010 with part of the Love Lane building continuing to be occupied by the Cowe family. They were "critical projects" within the Berwick Townscape Heritage Initiative and received grant aid for refurbishment along with the Heritage Lottery Fund in late 2015.
