This was the line from Garston Junction into Garston Docks, still at the time an important source of freight, later to be replaced with the Garston Freightliner terminal. The train, hauled by Stanier Black 5 45067, appears to consist entirely of older timber sided wagons, partly 5-plank and partly 3-plank, and the formation suggests that these may well be on their way to a scrapyard. The array of sidings at the left hand side are those of Garston gasworks which relatively recently ceased coal gas production to become merely a distribution and storage centre for natural gas.
