This is east of Smethwick Junction on Thomas Telford's "new" (1824-1838) main line from Wolverhampton . The bridge is a roving bridge, which allowed horses to cross the canal and proceed without being unhitched from their boats. It was made by the Horseley Iron Works in Tipton, (then in Staffordshire) in 1828. On the left is the Incanite Foundry (iron and aluminium) which ceased trading in 2014 and following a big fire in 2016, was demolished in 2017.
