Looking north-west on a very dull drizzly morning* towards Sandwell and Wolverhampton, this is the Birmingham Canal Navigations New Main Line, engineered by Thomas Telford and mostly completed 1824-1827. One of his improvements was to have towpaths on both sides of the water. Ahead is Rabone Lane Bridge and the Darcast Crankshafts factory. The unit on the left was taken over by Dhamecha Foods Cash and Carry in 2017. In this 2010 image, it was the EE (Birmingham) Cash and Carry. * I apologise for the blemishes on this image, caused by tiny water droplets on the lens.
