Rather grandly titled Longridge Moss Nature Reserve, this is essentially just a very large field containing a peat bog. As is often the case with Scottish Wildlife Trust managed reserves in winter I saw precisely zero wildlife - I suppose that grass and moss are actually living things though! An unrelentingly bleak place, there is actually not a great deal of moss around either. There's a bit more on the Eastern side of the bog but mostly it's just brown grass. When the moss does appear it is usually underwater, as seen here. I initially wondered if they were the beginnings of small burns but they were just random wet patches. Bring spare socks and shoes if you ever venture here from afar; there are no paths!
