Winson Green Bridge carries the A4040 Winson Green Road across the Soho Loop, a remnant of the original contour hugging Birmingham Canal Navigations Main Line to Wolverhampton, engineered by Brindley, 1768-1772. That was superseded by Thomas Telford's new main line, mainly between 1824 and 1827. Winson Green prison is off to the right.
