West Riding CC milestones were set up in 1893/94 by the family firm of Gill & Frank Stead of Mirfield. It is one of the original 615 with this casting being made by Brayshaw & Booth of Liversedge. Over half of these WRCC stones still survive all over the old West Riding. The top of this stone outside Rotherham Hospice on the A6021 was cracked and broken but has been expertly repaired. It is Grade II listed 335646.
