This side of the sign shows the church of St Mary, the old preaching cross and Hellesdon Bridge, but laying on the ground is Martyr, King and Saint Edmund - saying his prayers - with three arrows lying beside him and a wolf standing over him. The other side again shows the church of St Mary, the River Wensum with Hellesdon Bridge, a golfer representing the golf course, a dog and ball representing the recreation area and children in their school uniform. In the centre is a passenger jet, probably something to do with Norwich Airport.
