Now separate properties, High House and the adjacent shop Image are parts of one 14th century (or possibly earlier) building. There are later additions and alterations. Timber framed, refronted in the 18th century and stuccoed with lining giving the appearance of ashlar. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1122927 Castle Hedingham is a small village in Essex about 15 miles north west of Colchester. The village developed around the Norman castle and is home to a large number of timber framed medieval buildings. The village’s railway station which was opened in 1867, closed in 1964 and was dismantled and rebuilt in 1974 on a new site to the north west of the village by the Colne Valley Railway Preservation Society.
