Built in 1823 as a Malt and Corn Mill, it was also in use as a forge. Richard Eaton who owned the mill in the middle of the 19thC used the forge to make gun barrels for sporting use, and for the Crimean War, after such time the trade dwindled and the mill was put up for sale in Feb' 1870. The new owner was William Hulstone, a farmer, who wasn't really interested in milling, so used the building as a hay loft and barn, the machinery was either lost or sold but this twist of fate came to save the building. It was passed down with the farm holdings; and eventually converted into fine living accommodation in 1975.
