Electric House (behind the photographer) was the normal destination shown for journeys terminating in the town centre, now replaced by the Tower Ramparts bus station https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2852285 which has replaced the car park (and underground public (in)conveniences on the right. The former Egerton's car showrooms on the left were already vacant and the area has been redeveloped. Bus number 14 (CDX514) was only the 14th diesel bus purchased by Ipswich Corporation, being an AEC Regent III with Park Royal bodywork, new in 1954. Until 1950, Corporation bus services in Ipswich were operated entirely with trolleybuses, and diesel buses delivered in the 1950s were used for expansion of the bus network rather than replacement of the trolleybuses. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=2114547&displayclass=slide
