The buildings are the western or Mold wing of Francis Thompson's station jointly owned by the Chester & Holyhead, Birkenhead, Shrewsbury & Chester and Grand Junction Railways, opened in 1848. The station is Listed Grade II*. Sadly the traditional cabmen's shelter has not survived. The bus is a Guy Arab IV with Massey Bros bodywork, dating from 1955.
