The Eastham Ferry Hotel was built for Sir William Massey Stanley, c1845. It used to be much fancier but has been shorn of most of its outre features. Grade II listed. Supplanted by a railway connecting Birkenhead to Chester, the ferry across the Mersey closed in 1929.
