Two very large sawn sections – about 2 metres diameter, check the photographer's shadow! - guarding a pedestrian access into Colwick Country Park - a variant on the usual large boulder or concrete block. A feature of the nearest bole is the very asymmetric position of the heartwood. Species unidentified, but probably pine of some sort, judging by the width of the growth rings.
