About to depart tender first for Shackerstone on the preserved Battlefield Line. Market Bosworth is the middle of the line's three stations. Wightwick Hall is one of 71 'modified Halls' built between 1944 and 1950 and one of 6 survivors. Wightwick Hall was completed in March 1948 and cost £9686 to build. The locomotive covered 640,645 miles in 16 years of service and was withdrawn in 1964.The locomotive fortunately ended up in Woodham's scrapyard at Barry and was bought for preservation in 1977. It first turned a wheel in preservation on 11 December 2018 and has now been successfully run in and in 2020 is available for hire by preserved lines. It will not be going on the main line.
