Satirists and cartoonists had a field day when a widely-disliked cabinet minister solemnly explained that a scotch egg was "a substantial meal", and that as part of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions imposed late in 2020 pubs would only be allowed to remain open if they served such feasts (pubs serving only drinks and pork scratchings had to close). The Little Rose (the building on the left) seized the marketing opportunity. The other notice shows local opposition to a possible route should the proposal to reopen the Oxford-Cambridge railway ever go ahead.
