On the left is the now demolished Slimma clothing factory. In the background with the copper topped hotel de ville tower is Waterloo Mill. There's a touch of Lancashire about this red brick mill with fairly generous fenestration and a copper clad top to the stair tower. A picture in a book on Leek mills shows it with a splendid chimney. Now converted to desirable apartments but without loss of all its character. This corner is packed with mill workers' terraced housing. The effect is spoilt by motor vehicles crammed in every conceivable corner.
