The river runs parallel with the Staffs & Worcs Canal at this point. This view is from the canal towpath. This fairly fast flowing river was until recent years highly polluted, receiving discharges from many factories in the towns it runs through. As a result the river round here used to be almost orange in colour, but the water quality has improved considerably although, like the canal, it still gets a lot of rubbish thrown in it.
