The sign bears the date 2020 and replaces the old sign which is in the portico of the village hall and can be seen here https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6704974 Surmounted by a Roman helmet it relates to the Roman period and the large number of Roman objects that have been recovered in the parish. The chimneys and bricks show that there was once a brickworks that specialised in the production of chimney pots. The sign also depicts a goat which represents the only, but very popular public house. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6704980
